One of Seven Million
Things feel so chaotic and scary right now with the current administration and the deep divide between people. When I go to the No Kings rallies and see a sea of people around me that feel similar to me, I feel less alone.
As I’m focused on continuing to learn from women of color and those in the social justice fight far longer than I have been, I’m also aware of the call to do more than rally. We have to continue to show up for those being attacked right now. We have to continue to support those in our community, to call out injustice, and to fight for our rights.
I am doing my best to boycott those on the Boycott, Divest, Sanction list, especially as we come upon the holiday season. I’m using my photography to document the times and share them through zines left around town, with the hopes to encourage others to show up and get fired up.
As I attend these rallies and marches with my camera(s) in hand, I never bring a sign to hold myself. This time, I created a shirt that pays homage to tees made by dykes that came before me: Lavender Menace.
